Ok, so here is the deal, I want to do the snowman dungeon and have a fast casting nuker hero to bring along. I chose Gwen because I don't have nightfall so I am limited to heroes and skills only from proph, factions and eotn. So I set her up a build, I think it was the one on wiki and I tried it in the dungeon, and it failed horribly. She had bad energy management and would always leroy it to the front lines just so I can watch her get spiked by the snowmen. What I am asking is that if anyone has a good fast casting nuker build that DOES NOT use nightfall skills, if they could post it and the equipment they chose to go with.

Here is the build I chose to use on her:

The Equipment is:
-Radiant Head Piece of Sup Fast Casting
-Radiant Chest Piece of Attunement
-Radiant Gloves of Minor Vigor
-Radiant Leg Piece of Attunement
-Radiant Foot Piece of Minor Inspiration Magic

Her Weapons:
Fire Wand-[Max]-[20/20]
Flame Artifact-[Max]-[15/-1]-[Health +30]

She has 465 health and 69 energy with 3 pips.

Can anyone tell me why she fails?

EDIT: I think I may have just solved my own problem, it must be because of Bed of Coals.

I don't know why you believe that Fire damage does bonus to snowmen. The reason she's dying is: Echo + MS is tooo much exhaustion for a non ele. -20 energy drops it to levels where 1 Rodgort's Invocation will doom her to no energy. Try using Vekk as Echo doesn't require any attributes.

Echo, Firestorm and Meteor Shower fail BAAADLY on a hero. Oh, and Bed too. Make her FC curses, Me/N.

lol why me/n or MS fiand those stuff when a simple Trio-Heats+Breath of Fire+Fireball+Summon Imp+Fire Attunement+1 optional
EDIT: For snowman what I used... AOE damage (without MS): SH, Tenai's Heat, Searing Heat aka Trio heats, Breath of Fire, Firestorm
So 3 nukers (me and 2 hero eles), 1 Jagged Bones MM, 2 Hero Hench and 2 Ele Hench... works the best

IF you want to run casters - but lack heroes of the selected primary class - then necro is your way out.
(Unless of course you already used Livi-babez. In which case go with the ritualist hero with some channeling stuff. Ancestor's/Splinter/Rift.)

1 - Radiants are bad. Even on heroes, superior runes fall as a much stronger choice. Also, don't have the hero camping a +15/-1 item. One lesser regeneration can affect your energy by a longshot. Replace with 20/20.

2 - Auspicious Incantation and Echo are bad on a hero as they don't understand how to use them and what to use them on. Fire Storm and Bed of Corals are just bad anyway.

If you really want a Fire build for Fast Casting, I suggest the following:

[fire attunement][gole][ward against melee][teinai's heat][searing heat][fireball][no skill][resurrection signet]
10+1+1 Fast Casting
12 Fire Magic
9 Earth Magic

Elite goes for whatever. I suggest swapping Fireball for Liquid Flame and using Mantra of Recovery as the elite. I'm sure heroes could manage this.

Heroes just cant use that skill properly.

To be honest, most PBAoE skills are quite bad in general, except for very few. Some even good in rare places, such as farming.

Giving [fire storm] to a hench or hero is a waste of a skill slot. All they manage to do with it is cause AoE scatter, as they cause their own demise when trying to use [bed of coals] anywhere. While an echo skill seems like a great idea, it really isn't for a hero. Set your builds up so that even a crackhead can use them and you've got it.

Does Fast Casting outweigh Energy Storage? I would think that Ele as an offensive secondary would work better on a necro. I'm looking at this from the viewpoint of hero usage.

Not as good as E/x but meh it will work

Echoes and stuff epic fail on heroes. So does AI; they have no sense to cast a high-energy spell after it.

1. WTF. why are you trying to run an ele on a mesmer. u stupid? use an ele, or a necro if you must.
2. Mshower dosnt even come close to being worth it's energy cost and recharge.
3. youre wasting your elite. get elemental attunement and let your ELE spam the crap out of rodgort.

The only reason I am trying a me/e nuker is because my ele is currently tied up as a e/rt healer and is doing very well and i didn't want to change that yet.

Why not make Livia your N/Rt healer and free up Vekk for the nuking job? The mesmer trying to nuke may not be viable due to energy management. That will allow you to make Vekk a dual attunement nuker and he can spam to his heart's desire without much worry of running out of gas.
